Built in 1846 by Rufus McIlhenny of the Tabasco family. The monolithic columns frame the wrought iron balcony to protect the stucco facade and 12 foot walk-thru windows. Enter the huge door to the great hall with double parlors and a sweeping six-foot circular staircase to upstairs. Front and rear brick and slate courtyards with fountains provide a tranquil, relaxing setting. In 2005-2006 the home was lovingly restored retaining the historic charm while incorporating all the modern amenities expected in a fine hotel. New baths, separate HVAC in each room, hardwood floors, carpet, TV/DVD and refrigerators. Some rooms have balconies.
