It’s strawberry season around here! Yesterday we drove 45 minutes outside of town to pick strawberries at Ms Heather’s Strawberry Farm. After spending a fun day picking berries and playing in their big playground area, we came home with around three gallons!

We each filled a bucket (the kids’ were half size). As I was sorting them back at home it was very easy to tell which bucket was David’s, because of the many half eaten berries 😂

When I was a baby I would only eat banana baby food. Apparently my parents tried and tried to feed me other things with no success.

One day my parents threw a party at our house. Before the party, my mom put out a dish full of pickled okra on our coffee table. She then went on to do other things. When she came back a bit later, the dish was empty. She started to blame my dad for eating the party food, but he hadn’t touched it. They realized I had eaten the entire bowl!

When we were first brainstorming names for the Inn, brilliantly suggested The Okra Inn. And it just felt so right.

It’s been very cute around here! Every spring, (it’s spring here!)the neighborhood chickens hatch their eggs, and we have little chicks running around. And yes you read that right, we have neighborhood street chickens. At any given time there are 5-10 roaming around our yard and the block or two around us. Generations of these chickens have been here for decades!

We added these two rooms to the house when we converted the property to a bed and breakfast. The rest of the house has such great historical charm, that we were worried they’d never compete. But it turns out they hold their own nicely.

Happy Endymion Valentine’s Day!

Adam and I met eleven years ago today at the Endymion parade. It was the last time Endymion fell on Valentine’s Day, and the next time it happens won’t be for another eleven years in 2037.

We later held our wedding at The Okra Inn Iberville during the Endymion parade, and had a second line down the route.

And today, watching the parade with our two young kiddos, it was so sweet to think how the parade has marked our lives. And what a lovely life it is with you.
