The Laurel Bed and Breakfast

The Laurel Bed and Breakfast At Home in New Orleans! The Laurel Bed and Breakfast is located in the heart of Mid-City. Laura & Eliot are the owners and hosts of this lovely B&B.

Licensed, commercially insured and operating since 1996 in the heart of Mid-City. The Laurel is only a 10-minute walk to The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Voodoo Fest and the Endymion Mardi Gras Parade. There is a wide variety of restaurants within walking distance. The French Quarter and Central Business District are just a 10-minute drive away. There is a bus stop and the street car (tro

lly) line within walking distance (5 minutes) which runs to both of these destinations. It is in a residential neighborhood and is only a 5-minute walk to City Park and The New Orleans Museum of Art. The home is a beautiful 2-story stucco structure with a red Spanish tile roof. It is architecturally unique and interesting with its arched doorways and doors. The original structure is intact with very few changes to the original design. There are original wood floors and ceramic tiles which have been beautifully restored. The long center hallway serves as the perfect photo gallery for Eliot's photos. The raised front porch is a wonderful place to just sit and do nothing. The front courtyard-style patio is beautifully landscaped with French Quarter style gas lanterns, an exquisite water fountain and an Italian-style pergula. It is a lovely place to sit relax after a day of exploring New Orleans. The corner lot offers a beautiful view of the peaceful surroundings of the neighborhood. Guests can enjoy City Park's Museum of Art, botanical gardens and new walking park. Laura and Eliot Kamenitz have owned and resided in their home since May 1995. They are the fifth and current owners of this 1924 raised cottage-style house. They both have professional careers; Laura is an Engineer for an international oil company and travels the world for her job. Eliot is a staff photographer for the New Orleans Advocate local newspaper. Ranger and Billy are the resident cats whose main jobs are to do nothing when they are not sleeping. They have a lot of responsibility which they take seriously. Come join us and enjoy the experience of being "At Home in New Orleans" with Laura and Eliot!

Another happy customer at the Laurel Bed and Breakfast! It's so rewarding to know we are doing a fabulous job after all these years 🙂. We established the Laurel in 1996 as a traditional bed and breakfast & cultural exchange. Licensed with the City of New Orleans for 27 years!

We LOVED getting to stay in this funky and spacious airbnb! Laura was an incredible host, full of great local suggestions and so accommodating and kind. We had transit trouble getting into New Orleans, and Laura absolutely went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful time in the city. Although our stay was short, the room was so comfortable, and we loved getting to pet the cats that also called this B&B home. We'll definitely be staying here the next time we're in town! 🙂.

Our very lovely young guests, staying for the last 8 days, left this morning. I was totally taken by surprise by the beautifully handwritten note along with an very unexpected $50 gift plus, best of all, a fried chicken leg hair clip!!!! I think they really liked their visit with us!! I’m always so grateful knowing I’ve provided our visitors at the Laurel Bed and Breakfast with the most enjoyable New Orleans experience possible!

Another 5-STAR review from VRBO!!

5/5
From the time of our booking until we left Laura and her husband Elliot were superb hosts. We flew in late Thursday evening/Friday morning and were greeted at the door. Light breakfast was served daily at 8.30 am promptly with gf accommodations. The listing/pictures of the home do not do justice of the actual home. The rooms were roomy enough and afforded us the privacy we needed for our stay. Laura recommended three restaurants which were walking distance from the house and the food was excellent. The neighborhood was lined with beautiful homes, quiet and close enough to the art museum and sculpture garden that we could walk. We took a cab to and from the airport, which for our visit, was all the driving we wanted to do. Would recommend this property to everyone who wants to stay far enough away from the quarter yet close enough should you feel the need to visit. Excellent hosts

Outstanding
Location, Location, Location. I can’t say enough good things about this property. Our host was so knowledgeable about transportation, restaurants, music in the area. Laura was such a delight to talk to. She loves her city and it shows. The accommodations were far better than I was expecting. I loved our private sitting room off our bedroom. I’m almost afraid to say how good this was for fear of not finding availability next time we want to stay there. Can’t wait to come back.

Cannot say enough great things about this guest suite. It is great for pandemic times, since there's a private entrance, and it was spotlessly clean inside. There is a beautiful, huge front courtyard where we ate dinner every night with food from amazing local restaurants in the neighborhood. The host even brought us some wine glasses and put on music for us out there, and it's great people watching as well. I booked this for my dad since I live in the area and will be referring all my future visitors to book this place! It was absolutely perfect.

I've been sooooo lazy copying over reviews from AirBnB and VRBO. Here are a few recent reviews for The Laurel Bed and Breakfast.

January 2020 AirBnB
Laura was a delightful host, and I looked forward to chatting with her each day about the best things to see and do in her city. Her love for the city is contagious! And her home is lovely—a great place to unwind and escape to at the end of a long day of sightseeing.

December 2019 AirBnB
Laura's house is located in the midst of an exceptionally stylish and safe neighborhood. It's jammed with art, and it features a supremely comfortable suite, with a bath and a really inviting sunroom. The breakfast--food and conversation--was amazing, making this a very different and welcome alternative to staying in a hotel. Stay here! You won't be disappointed.

You have to try this excellent B & B
Everything about this property, including the owner, was excellent. It requires no further comments than this.
