Sunday, August 3, marks our 10 year anniversary here at Good Ole EFI. When we took over, she was ranked #37 of about 140 B&Bs in New Orleans. We are very proud to report that we are now ranked #2 of 130 B&Bs! We did that! We have had a lot of ups, a few downs, thousands of guests from almost 50 different countries, and we’ve made some lifelong friends along the way. What an honor it has been to own this unique property, in this crazy city that has embraced us as its own. I’m not sure how many more years we’ve got in us, but I will forever be grateful for this job that I love, and the people that have come into our lives because of it. If you have yet to visit us, what are you waiting for?? Come see what all the fuss is about!

What a nice surprise this morning from our French guests. Good Ole EFI is listed in a French guidebook. It is quite complimentary and he even gives a shout out to the innkeepers. I think this writer might have visited during 2021. We have since made some dramatic changes with the 'vegetation' around the pool.

Translation:
Located on a main road (with little traffic) on the edge of the Marigny district, this house, run with great kindness by Michelle and Bob, offers pleasant and comfortable rooms, elegant with varnished parquet floors and (small) style furniture. You'll quickly feel at home. For more peace and quiet, avoid those facing the street.
Tea and coffee are available. A small pool off to the side... but it lacks vegetation.

Good news Party People! I have one room that just became available for Mardi Gras weekend. This means, NOW is your chance.
If you've never been to Mardi Gras, you have to forget everything you think you know about it, and experience the greatest party known to mankind.
Carnival is many things:
Uptown parades day and night beginning Thursday Feb 27. Muses, Iris, Bacchus, and Orpheus, just to name a few. Huge floats, illuminated at night, throwing tons of throws and fun swag. Smaller walking parades in Marigny and the Quarter. These parades hand out small 'throws', which are handmade by the Krewe over the year.
Eating King cake and dancing in the streets as much as you'd like. Do whatcha wanna!
Mardi Gras balls where you can dress to the nines, enjoy awesome entertainment, and then witness the parade coming right by your table!
All this fun culminates with Mardi Gras Day, Fat Tuesday! March 4th. So many options...
Get up early to catch the Skull and Bone Gang, waking people up with a message of peace on Mardi Gras day.
Catch Rex and Zulu rolling down St Charles Mardi Gras morning.
Dress up in costume and hit the streets of Marigny and the French Quarter for a Tuesday like no other.
People watching at it's best!

I love to say that I am my own United Nations. This week was one for the books. France, Brazil, Switzerland, and Mexico all under one roof. The French guests check out today, and more come in tonight. Give me a chance at running our country....we'd all be friends in the end...and a lot nicer, too!

Good Ole EFI is getting a facelift!
After more than a week of prep including sanding, caulking, and rebuilding two column bases and part of a garage door, the painting has begun. First photo is before, the last photo is our gorgeous new porch ceiling. More photos to follow.
