Gopher tortoises may be spotted at the waters edge. Although they are a terrestrial species, they visit the salty surf to soak ticks off. Please do not put them into the ocean. Once they are ready, they will make their way back into the dunes and upland habitat. Check out this tortoise crusin' the beach that was spotted while surveying for nests.
