This is why we love NSB… come stay with us and enjoy everything this Florida town has to offer
Flagler Avenue has always had a certain charm that newer beach towns just can't replicate. 🍦 Back in the 1950s, this stretch of New Smyrna Beach was already drawing families for the same reason people still love it today, a walkable, laid-back street just steps from the sand.
Soda fountains, surf shops, and mom-and-pop storefronts lined the avenue long before chain stores existed to compete with them, and many of the buildings from that era still stand today, just with new businesses inside. The palm-lined street and easy beach access made it a favorite stop for Florida families looking for a slower pace than the bigger coastal cities offered.
It says something that this street still feels so similar to how it looked seventy years ago. What's your favorite memory of spending a day on Flagler Avenue?
