I think this Brother just hit the nail on the head. What say ye?
One Brother commented on my latest reel and really stopped me in my tracks.
He essentially said it’s not about what a man is when he joins it’s about what he’s capable of becoming.
He shared that when he first joined, he could barely speak in front of a group.
Less than ten years later, he served two years in the East, became a Grand Lodge officer, and now serves as Vice President of his Shrine club.
That didn’t happen by accident.
That happened because the Brethren saw something in him that he did not, the beauty within the rough ashlar.
They gave him the light, the time, the tools, and the support to grow.
This is why discernment matters.
Not to demand perfection…
but to recognize potential, character, and willingness to do the work.
So maybe the question isn’t just “Is he ready today?”
Maybe it’s also “Is he willing to be shaped for tomorrow?”
We must always remember it’s the internal and not the external…
What potential have you seen unlocked in a Brother, or in yourself?
