If you’re heading up our way, skip the highway rush and try this mini road trip itinerary:
Stop 1: Morning Fuel in Historic Harmony
Just 30 minutes north of the city, pull into Historic Harmony. Grab a specialty latte or fresh crepe from Wunderbar Coffee, then walk across the brick square to The Two Fraus Bakery for scratch-made sourdough and treats for the road.
Stop 2: Walk the Gorge at McConnell’s Mill State Park
Take the winding backroads into the Slippery Rock Creek gorge. Stretch your legs with an easy walk across the historic 1874 covered bridge and check out the roaring gristmill waterfalls before getting back in the car.
Stop 3: Browse Main Street in Volant
Just minutes from the Bridgehouse, wander through the village of Volant. Pop into the historic 1800s mill, hunt for vintage treasures in the boutique shops, and grab warm Amish-made fry pies.
Final Stretch: Golden Hour in New Wilmington
Roll the windows down as the two-lane roads open up to rolling farm pastures and passing horse-and-buggies. Pull up to The Bridgehouse, drop your bags, pour a glass of w**e, and officially unplug.
