ART BASEL: "Miami's hottest new restaurant/nightclub, El Tucán Miami (1111 SW 1st Avenue, Miami) is presenting a special series of dinner shows by acclaimed Cuban actress and singer CuCu Diamantes performing with Alain Perez and an 11-piece Latin orchestra on December 3, 4 and 5, with two shows nightly. The club was designed by Robert McKinley (GoldBar, Ruschmeyers, The Surf Lodge etc.). "

"Glitterati favorite Sant Ambroeus has opened a Coffee Bar at Sotheby’s, offering the art crowd a taste of the beloved Italian restaurant... The café’s décor was created by New York-based designer Robert McKinley, who was inspired by the artistic flair of Italy’s fashion capital, Milan. Honoring the tradition of Italian coffee bars in the 1950’s, the columns and walls are decorated in rich mahogany paneling with gold fluting detail. Custom Murano glass pedants decorate the bar, and vintage leaf-shaped Murano sconces brighten wood columns. The floors are Sant Ambroeus’ signature colors: chocolate brown, cream and pale pink marble and were inspired by the geometric patterns of Gio Ponti."

October 24, Sotheby's will open an outpost of one of Italy's famous coffee bars on the 10th floor of the auction house's sprawling headquarters on York Avenue on Manhattan's Upper East Side...The current-day café decor was created by New York-based designer Robert McKinley, with walls and columns clad in mahogany paneling. The floors were inspired by the geometric patterns of Gio Ponti, and custom Murano glass pendants are featured in the bar, while Murano sconses shaped like leaves decorate the wood columns."

A new outpost of the perennial art world hangout Sant Ambroeus will open in Sotheby's just in time for the fall auction season.
