Last Monday, we gathered in the South 7th Loft to hear author Rennie McDougall discuss his new book, Nonstop Bodies: How Dance Shaped New York City, as part of the Performance Talks Book Club series. The book covers over 100 years of dance history, starting with the inception of the Lindy Hop in Harlem and continuing through voguing, ballet, disco, and everything in between.

And of course, there was no better way to explore and dissect this book about New York than while overlooking the city skyline.

The event was hosted by Performance Talks founder and curator Jeanette Bisschops in partnership with Wythe Hotel’s Art Program.

Beyond working tirelessly to make sure every room is stocked with crisp linens and fresh towels and that each space is spotless, their work plays an essential role in the overall care and safety of our hotel. As we’ve always said, they’re the heart of our hotel.

Our friends at colossalmedia fearlessly scaled the walls of Wythe last week to give our Le Crocodile mural an update.

For over 20 years, Colossal has helped revive a lost art, hand-painting murals throughout Williamsburg and helping shape the neighborhood’s iconic look and feel.
We’re so lucky to be one of their canvases. :)

On March 10, Wythe hosted XTRTRRSTRLSorganized by ACOMPI (.nyc) and Ruby Justice Thelot (), where four short films exploring otherworldly mysteries were screened.

For the event, Thelot designed an exclusive limited-edition zine featuring imagery from 1960s revolutionary publications and declassified CIA archives. Before the screening began, viewers could pick up a copy and flip through it, popcorn in hand.

The evening featured works by Dana Dawud (), Clare Koury (), Ruby Justice Thelot (), and Wendi Yan ().

The program brought together artists who “synthesize found and fabricated footage, echoing the online ecosystems where science fiction, subcultures, and conspiracies collide.”
