Always got to love a moose in the neighborhood! Hopefully the tics and wolves can leave them alone as they are really struggling in recent years. It would be awesome to actually see moose again in the area more often with calves.

So this happened on the way home tonight from Pine Stump. I was doing some backwoods guiding on the SxS's when this walked in front us.

We had the opportunity to see a deer yesterday in a beautiful fall setting on our way back from catching some Coho salmon on Lake Superior.
This next week is peak time for colors. We had to do a recovery of a side by side yesterday and the colors commimg down 123 from Tahquamenon we stunning! I tried for some video but it was just too late in the evening to do any justice at all for what nature offers. Best way I can describe it is as a tunnel of 🔥. Get outdoors and enjoy all fall has to offer before its gone.

Its going to be a beautiful weekend in the woods with all the colors we have up here for sure. Its for sure to be a great time for a ATV scavenger hunt!

Today at 6pm is the last day to purchase tickets for the scavenger hunt

It looks like the weather should be amazing!!!

Its been a busy summer and beginning to fall for us this year at Winterhaven. Our hunting/baiting obligations are now fully filled and we wanted to share this year's first success story.

Ohio Doug harvested a beautiful bear opening day of season after a 3 hour sit watching a few smaller bears for some time before this guy showed up. Doug was our first customer to come on board and allow us to be a part of his hunt. We baited all season and ran cameras for him on a couple pieces of private land and public land. Doug had some gracious friends allow him to hunt some very nice spots and he made the best of it all for sure with some local baiting help. We had numerous bears keeping us on our toes for weeks as we impatiently waited for season to open at times thinking we were golden and at times thinking we were stinking. The time spent together and chatting about bears for over a month we will forever cherish. Its one of our favorite parts to a hunt is the people and thru Gods will of all our hard work together, we were fortunate enough to help him drag out and process up this beautiful 392lb male boar. Great job Doug on a very successful hunt and thank you for letting us be a part of it all.

Update:
If you guessed a moose and a bear you are correct. Not the best moose track as it was dry, hard, crusty sand but to say the least I was super excited to see we have a moose in the area. Hopefully the wolves leave it alone and a mate is found so we get a breeding pair, we don't have many moose left around here.

The other print us a pretty nice black bear at one of our blinds. I think he's hunting the hunter by his footsteps lol. He gets a free pass this year, all he needs to do is stay close till sleepy time so he can grow up some more.

Anyone seen or heard all the wolves lately? I know one thing for sure they seem to love our bear baits and there seems to be a good number of them hanging around like never before? We have nights they are on 3 different baits, 5 miles apart at close the same times and in multiple numbers sometimes.
Keep your pets close to home as they seem to be starving for food. Meat eaters are now eating granola and jelly because they have already eaten most everything else except the big bears and fishers around here. Michigan severly needs wolf management before its too late and everything is gone in the UP.

The Luce County Road Commission has issued a temporary closure of County Road 500, effective immediately.

Recent heavy rainfall combined with significant meltwater from the deep snowpack has led to deteriorating road conditions. For the safety of all travelers, the road will remain closed while crews monitor the situation.

🗺️ DETOUR ROUTE:

Northbound: Take M-123 to CR 407 to CR 414.

Southbound: Take CR 414 to CR 407 to M-123.

We will continue to evaluate the road and will reopen it as soon as conditions allow. We appreciate your patience and cooperation!
