Now announcing our NEW WEBSITE! Same address, fresh look ✨👀 We've been working behind the scenes for months to design a digital home for the Tipsy Butler that makes it easy for guests to book a stay, schedule a sauna session, reserve the whole inn, or just learn more about us. You'll see some new offerings and packages sprinkled throughout - more on that later, but for now give it a peek and let us know what you think!!

One thing we really love about owning our own business is that we get to build new skills and wear a ton of hats. This project was full of learnings for us, and we could not have pulled it off without the website design team at ThinkReservations - plus incredible branding and photography from Girl That Designs, Erin Griffin Photography, and Tristan Spinski 💕📸

Traveling with kids? We love little guests here at the Tipsy Butler! And they love it here, too. Just ask our recent guest Clare, who said the beds are soft and the food is good. Or Tallulah, who visited our chickens each day of her stay to feed them veggie scraps and promised to come back next summer.

Whether you're roadtripping up the coast or dropping your child off at summer camp, we know it can be hard to find kid-friendly accommodations in small-town Maine. Our Hudson Suite has an adjoining room with a twin trundle bed, so you can keep the little ones close by. Our third-floor Overlook room has a twin rollaway bed if you need it. And our two-bedroom Cottage is perfect for a family getaway! We've also got a pack and play available for extra tiny guests... and we're always happy to scramble a couple of eggs or chop up some fruit for less adventurous eaters 😉

Breakfast service is our favorite way to start the day!

There's something special about waking up early to craft a meal for our guests. The kitchen is quiet. The sunlight streams in. People trickle in and out of the dining room for coffee or tea, and the house fills up with the smell of bacon or blueberries. When breakfast time rolls around, we've got a two-course meal ready to roll. The best part is the chatter and laughter bubbling into the kitchen from the table. That's the magic of a shared meal with fellow travelers, and it fills our little innkeeper hearts right up to the brim 💕

We use eggs from our backyard chickens, harvest garden veggies and herbs whenever we've got them, and buy the rest as local as we can. Gluten-free, dairy-free, allergies? No problem. Mimosas? Just say the word 🥂 And although we're learning fast what the crowd-pleasers are (hellooooooo, cinnamon rolls), we're always adding new things to our repertoire. We've had a Wanderwood farm dinner on our bucket list for a long time. This past Friday night, the stars finally aligned for us! It was such a pleasure to see owners Kelsey and Matt doing what they do best: bringing people together for a one-of-a-kind experience, feeding them incredible food, and letting a gorgeous setting and intentional hospitality do the rest ✨ The fabulous Husky Boi cooked a dinner of summer abundance that included Gulf of Maine monkfish as the star of the plate - plus carrot cake with carrots harvested that same day 🥕 We ate under the stars and left feeling so inspired. Eight minutes later, we were home! We ended the night with a special-occasion tradition: exchanging cards from The Kingfisher & The Queen ✉️ 💙

In the middle of a very busy season, it felt really good to slow down and be taken care of. We'll be back!

When you're running a B&B in midcoast Maine, you always have a long list of to-dos... but sometimes Mother Nature adds her own! A recent storm brought a huge tree down onto our chicken run. Somehow no chickens were harmed, and the coop itself stayed intact. So we thanked our lucky stars and busted out the chainsaw! (Eventually we'll use the downed wood for sauna sessions.) Cleaning everything up and putting together a new run took most of the weekend, but we had some friends and family stop by help out. Meanwhile the ladies stewed in the coop and laid tiny eggs, possibly in protest. We're not sure who was happier to see this project finished - us or the chickens! If you know us, you know one of our favorite things to do together is eat good food in beautiful places. And now that we have a B&B, we get to share our favorite local spots with our guests!! We've loved Broad Arrow Farm since we moved to this part of the midcoast. And we've spent maaaaany summer Saturdays there eating farm-raised charcuterie, trying new drinks and taking in the ridiculously bucolic view out over Dan and Maggy's farm (did we mention there are piglets 🐽). We've made some lasting friendships with people we met there at events, over a winter tasting dinner, or just shopping in the market. It's hard for restaurants here to stay open year-round, so we appreciate that too.

Needless to say that while they've been closed for renovations, there's been a Rooting-Pig-sized hole in our lives... and we were SO happy to check out their soft launch about a week ago and see what their team has been working on!! Still incredible and creative local plates, picnic tables on the lawn, friendly folks taking good care of you. But also so many thoughtful improvements and a much larger space (plus a new indoor bar we can't wait to park at). While the staff assured us on their second day open they were "still working out the kinks", we're honestly not sure what they were referring to. We were totally wowed and we can't wait to send our guests here!

We were absolutely blown away by this week's meeting of 100+ Women Who Care Lincoln County!! 🎉 We've been members since this group started up last year, and now we're thrilled to be business sponsors, too (hence the photo of us bonding with the raffle winner of the two-night stay). We LOVE the grassroots approach of this group - and the shared laser focus on supporting local nonprofits right here in our county. It feels good to do good, and it's also really powerful to get in a room with so many women who are all pulling in the same direction. We come away from each meeting feeling hopeful.

THANK YOU to this quarter's Impact Donation nominees Lincoln County Dental, CHIP Inc., and Midcoast Humane for the critical work that you do! 💞 And thank you to Beth & Warren of The Contented Sole who generously hosted 215 (!!) of our almost 400 (!!!!) members at their incredible spot looking out over New Harbor. We invited out-of-state visiting friends to come along and felt so proud to show them what we love most about this community.

Next quarter's meeting is at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens and we honestly can't WAIT. Not a member yet? We need your help! Join us and help us reach our goal of raising 100K in 2026 for Lincoln County nonprofits 💵 💪 💥

NEW in our shop!! 🦪✨ We love supporting local makers and we are honored to be Head Tide Designs' very first wholesale partner. These beautiful oyster shell earrings are handmade in Maine by our friend Kat Lipp, general manager and oyster farmer at Mere Point Oyster Company. Her team grows shellfish for eating, but not every oyster makes it to the plate. Kat repurposes some of the smallest shells, then adds gold hardware and real freshwater pearls to make these pieces shine.

Each shell is shaped by its environment and the people farming it, which means that no two pairs are the same. We have these earrings in a variety of sizes and in two styles (hoop and dangly). Stop by and find the ones that were made for you.

Some snippets of innkeeper life lately! We're saying goodbye this morning to a full house of incredible guests. When banana nut bread elicits a round of applause at the breakfast table and new friends are exchanging numbers on their way out the door, we know we're creating a space where people feel at home 🥹 Come stay with us!

Join us (and many other local studios and galleries) this Saturday & Sunday for the Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce 2nd Annual Art Tour!! 🎨 🖼 We're SO excited to show off local artists Candace Bennett Vlcek and Rachel Altschuler (The Bird Gallery) at our B&B.

Candace's artwork actually predated us here at the Tipsy Butler, and her coastal landscapes and beautiful pastels made us feel right at home as soon as we moved in. She and her husband Charlie live in Jefferson and hosted us for dinner recently - and then stopped by yesterday to deliver some fresh pieces and a whole collection of prints for this weekend 💞

As for Rachel, we met last year when we walked into her Wiscasset gallery, and boy were we gobsmacked to find our favorite birds from the Maine coast and the Florida Keys hanging up all over the walls! Obviously we had to reach back out to her this spring about showing some of her work at the Butler. You'll find several of these avian cuties around the building, and we've got more collabs in the works ☺️ 🐦
