We’re incredibly honored and grateful to be spotlighted by the Avery County Chamber of Commerce as Tourism Member of the Month!
At Plumtree Campground and Retreat, our goal has always been to create a place where families, anglers, adventurers, and nature lovers can slow down, reconnect, and experience the beauty of the mountains together.
We’re thankful for every guest who has supported us, shared kind words, and made memories here along the way. We also appreciate the Avery County community and Chamber for supporting local tourism and small businesses that help make this area so special.
Whether you come for the trout fishing, creekside camping, mountain views, or peaceful getaway, we’re thankful to be part of your adventures. 🏕️🎣
Be sure to check out the Chamber’s spotlight post and show them some love! ♥️
Tourism Member of the Month 🤩
Nestled in the mountains of Newland, North Carolina, Plumtree Campground & Retreat offers a peaceful, off-the-beaten-path escape designed for campers who value nature, privacy, and genuine hospitality. We take pride in creating a welcoming, personal experience that keeps guests coming back year after year.
Guests consistently highlight the warm, attentive service from our owners and staff—many say it feels more like visiting friends than staying at a campground.
Our property is known for its quiet, scenic setting with spacious, well-maintained campsites that offer a sense of privacy you won’t find at crowded parks. Whether you’re relaxing by the creek, enjoying the sound of flowing water at night, or exploring the surrounding mountain landscape, the atmosphere is calm, secluded, and deeply connected to nature. A favorite feature among guests is our fully stocked trout pond, which offers a relaxing and rewarding experience for anglers of all skill levels.
Plumtree offers a wide variety of stay options to match your style of camping. Choose from private, primitive tent sites right along the creek, or enjoy the convenience of sites with water and electric located near our clean, well-maintained bathhouse. We also offer everything from rustic primitive cabins to well-equipped cabins and studios for those seeking a bit more comfort. For RV travelers, all of our sites are full hook-up, making your stay as easy and enjoyable as possible.
Cleanliness and comfort are top priorities. Our camp store is stocked with essentials and a few extras, so you’ll have what you need without leaving the property.
We’re also proud to share that we have fully recovered after Hurricane Helene and is open, thriving, and ready to welcome guests.
We’re not a corporate campground—we’re a family-run destination built on care, connection, and a love for the outdoors. Whether you’re here to fish, unwind by the creek, or explore the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains, you’ll find a place that feels welcoming, personal, and worth returning to.
