Yesterday's C.A.S.T. for Kids event saw 39 kids and their families take to the waters of Yaquina Bay for an incredible morning of fishing, crabbing, and boating. Organizers say they had 22 boats, which meant 22 volunteer boat captains, as well as lots of deckhands. Additionally, there were 50 volunteers on shore doing everything from handing out the tackle boxes and fishing poles each kid received, to cooking up the crab when the boats returned with their catch.
The Port of Newport extends a hearty "kudos" to C.A.S.T. for Kids and all the volunteers for providing a unique and wonderful experience to children with special needs. You can learn more about the organization at https://castforkids.org/
