In this day and age, as all matters of finding “space” become increasingly rare in our daily lives, and as the cacophony of violence often rings far too loudly, Walker Center remains committed to "space-creation." It has been, and continues to be, part of who we are. Yet this is not simply a way to explain our past and present; it helps guide our future as a center of living and learning together.

Our Walker Spotlight Stories highlight the great people behind the work being done on our campus. Not only do we love getting to know the students, conference leaders, and faith leaders who come to the Walker Center, but we also love to celebrate them and share their mission with the world!

In this story, we spotlight Zahra Lee, a local Sufi leader who hosts groups at the Walker Center. Click the link to read more about her work. https://www.walkerctr.org/news/walker-spotlight-meet-zhara

Our Story

Walker Center is a nonprofit education and retreat center and residential complex. We host other nonprofits’ conferences and retreats, conduct workshops and partnered programs, facilitate intentional community learning, and offer reduced-rate nightly stays at our inn.

In short, we support and develop transformative and creative educational efforts which promote a more just and peace-filled world. We focus this work on nonprofit organizations, faith leaders, and faith-based and interfaith communities. Our nearly-150 year history as a "house of hospitality" and our inviting campus offer a unique and potent space for learning and living together.*

Walker Center's mission is to foster ecumenical and interfaith communities where people are educated and empowered to work for peace and justice. We pursue this mission, aiming towards the great vision of beloved community, embracing all of creation.
