For a quarter of a millennium, our nation's story has been written by ordinary men and women who believed in faith, family, freedom, and the courage to build something greater than themselves.

The Brothers of Nineveh Lodge #317 are proud to celebrate this historic milestone and to remember those who sacrificed so future generations could enjoy the blessings of liberty.

As Freemasons, we hold Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth as our guiding light — values that have stood beside liberty since our nation's founding, carried forward by brothers who helped build this country and the institutions that keep it free.

As we celebrate today, may we honor the past, cherish the present, and leave this nation stronger for those who come after us.

The Grand Lodge of England was started on June 24, 1717 — St. John the Baptist’s Day.

Four London lodges met at the Goose and Gridiron Tavern in St. Paul’s Churchyard, declared themselves a Grand Lodge, and elected Anthony Sayer as the first Grand Master. That became the Premier Grand Lodge, the first Grand Lodge in the world and the origin of today’s United Grand Lodge of England.
