Archery is one of those activities that has a lot of waiting built into it.
You shoot. You watch. You wait while the person next to you shoots. You walk to the target together, pull your arrows, and walk back. There's a rhythm to it that slows everything down — and in that slower pace, kids actually talk to each other.
Not about anything in particular. About the shot that just went wide, or the one that surprised everyone, or something completely unrelated to archery. By the end of an afternoon on the range at Camp Lincoln or Camp Lake Hubert, kids who met three days ago are giving each other coaching tips and trash-talking each other's groupings like they've been friends for years.
Some of the best camp friendships start somewhere like this. Small, unhurried, built around something that isn't friendship at all.
Boys grades 2–9 at Camp Lincoln. Girls grades 3–9 at Camp Lake Hubert.
