This is a good shot of the waterfall connecting Mill Pond (freshwater) to the Damariscotta River via the Great Salt
Bay. It is at the bottom of the fish ladder where the fish
first enter the water pools bringing them up about 35 feet
to the Mill Pond and Damariscotta Lake to spawn.🤩

Every year at this time photographers gather at the little bridge at the bottom of the fish ladder to catch a glimpse or a great photo of the Osprey and Bald Eagles diving in the water for the alewives.
Sometimes, we can see this drama right from the back deck.

Today is lovely at the inn and there are signs across the pond that the alewives are here. I can see the silver shimmer on top and hear the seagulls screaming. Which reminds me that it is time to talk
about our new artwork for t-shirts.... yes, they are really coming this time. What does this picture remind you of?

To all our "peeps"...thank you for checking in... all is well at the Mill Pond. The Loons and the Orioles are here on time...
Keep good friends, family, and good music close and
come here when it feels safe for a visit. This too shall pass.
A little birdie told us so.

Turner Family is here visiting from Fulks Run VA. They own and operate Fulks Run Grocery, they are showing off their famous Country Friend Ham sandwiches...Voted best in Virginia in 2017!!!
This could be one of Maine's first Ham bakes (just for fun)
We took the Turner family on a Damariscotta River Oyster cruise earlier this week. Where they enjoyed and devoured every bite of this Maine delicacy. Sound like a fair trade huh?
