Job Title: Commercial Class A Driver/Generator Operator
Position: Full-Time
Reports to: Director of Sports Entertainment Services
Location: TN Office - Nolensville, TN

Responsibilities:

Driver / Loading / Shop Time Responsibilities:

• Full understanding of, and compliance with all current CDL laws and requirements.
• Submit to random DOT drug testing
• Ensuring vehicles are current on service intervals
• Ensure materials are available for date of shipment, prepping and packaging for date of delivery
• Properly and safely secure all loads in or on the vehicle to spec prior to departure
• Responsible for various inspections, reporting, manual and electronic driver logs, and timekeeping systems
• Shop time must be utilized to its full potential, loading and unloading trucks, providing maintenance to equipment, maintaining shop projects, assisting the shop supervisor and meeting any other need that arises

Generator Operator Responsibilities:

• Understanding of general setup, and operation for all Saunders Electric generators, sync and UPS systems
• Entirely responsible for installation, setup, maintenance, and extraction of all needed electrical distribution systems for various live events
• Work with various personnel to coordinate fuel deliveries, service and maintenance of generators prior to departure, and at job site
• Test, diagnose and adjust equipment failures
• Communicate with various office personnel to report and troubleshoot all potential performance issues
• Perform minor repairs in the field per instruction from office personnel
• Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing clientele
• Communicate effectively with the on-site technical supervisors
• Maintain all equipment log sheets to company standards, and manage proof of delivery paperwork from customers where required
• Tracking and logging all expenses on company expense report forms

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Knowledge of generators and diesel engines, preferable
• Ability to interact professionally and positively with customers and co-workers at all times, including when under pressure
• Must be energetic, enthusiastic and customer service driven
• CDL License with clean MVR required; Compliant with all Federal DOT CDL licensure requirements.
• Available to work prolonged hours, ability to be on the road for extended periods of time.
• Able to travel via commercial airline when required
• Able to pass criminal background check, drug screen and safety verifications per DOT requirements
The duties of this position may expand and the employee may be required to perform additional duties related to this position.

Working Conditions:

Requires working evenings, weekends, prolonged overtime during certain shows, and outdoors.
May be on the road for weeks on end at a time, particularly in peak sports seasons.

Physical Requirements:

This position may be physically challenging, require sitting and standing for long periods of time, lifting up to 100 lbs. and involve repetitive tasks.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Travel:

This position includes travel all over the United States via land, and or air

Commercial Driving: 2 years (Preferred)

Full Job Description:

The Driver/Operator will be required to work on the road as well as in the shop, performing the duties and responsibilities below. The primary job is to drive equipment to and from event sites, and secondary duties are to assist the show technician in the set-up and removal of electrical equipment. Over the road interstate travel is required and at times for several weeks in a row. The position may requires working alone or with a team on the job sites with client as a single representative of the company.

Driver Responsibilities:

- Full understand of, and compliance with all current CDL laws and requirements.
- Daily vehicle inspection reports, maintaining accurate driver log book, and mileage reports
- Ensuring the vehicle is current on service intervals
- Properly and safely securing all loads in or on the vehicle
- Tracking and logging all expenses on company expense report forms
- Tracking work time as required
- Submit to random DOT drug testing
- Assisting the Fleet manager with fleet maintenance

Assistant Show Tech Responsibilities:

- Understanding of generator knowledge for all Saunders Electric generators
- Maintain all generator log sheets to company standards
- Work with office personnel to coordinate fuel deliveries
- Communicate with office personnel to report and troubleshoot all potential issues
- Performing minor repairs in the field per instruction from office personnel
- Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing clientele
- Assist show tech in installation of electrical distribution system for event
- Shop duties will require rolling cable, pulling & prepping gear for show and teching gear prior to and post show (lunchboxes & distros)

Required Skills & Qualifications:

- Knowledge of generators and diesel engines

Our award winning UPS systems went to work for our clients this past holiday weekend.

On Thanksgiving morning, sustained high winds affected the Van Nuys area knocking out power for many in the area including one of our clients - NEP. Our recently installed UPS system and portable 300kW backup generator kicked on instantly and took over all loads without client losing power. At 3:30pm power was restored, and our systems switched from generator power, back to house power seamlessly.
 
On Sunday at the NBC Universal lot, there was a separate outage that affected another Saunders’ client - The Voice. While unattended, our UPS’ automated system alerted us of the outage and that it had switched over to the generator. Once the system detected power had been restored, it switched back over to house power seamlessly. The system, even though it was totally unattended, did its job as it was designed to do and kept our client online without an interruption.
