Central States CC is hosting four Collie specialties on Sat./Sun., Feb. 14/15, 2006, at our new location, Car-Dun-Al Obedience Dog Training Club in Huntley, IL. This year will include Pee-Wee and 4-6 month puppy events, plus Sweepstakes and Junior Showmanship. Our judges are Debra Smith, Russell D**e, April Trevino, and Lynn H. Butler. Debbie Holland will do an educational seminar - grooming your Collie for showing - before our Italian Buffet dinner. Premium list is available at www.caper-dogs.com.

For people coming to our Specialty and Rally/Obedience Shows Feb. 15 and 16, please let us know your choice of sub sandwich for Sunday lunch--beef, turkey, or ham. You can still order lunch for Saturday (Pizza), and Sunday (subs) by letting us know. You can pay at the show. Obedience and Rally people are welcome!

Our dinner is an Italian Buffet--served after our educational seminar on Fronts--Keeping Them in Balance, presented by Judge Patt Caldwell. Prices are in the Premium Lists.

Central States is offering a retired medium 5" x 7" Royal Doulton Collie figurine of CH Ashtead Applause, HN 1058, for auction. This figurine was donated to our club by Dr. William Brokken and we are putting this out in honor of Bonnie Young of Shadaglen Collies, who passed away on July 12, 2022. The Fall issue of the CCA Bulletin ran a full article on Bonnie, her start, and her influence on numerous breeders in the West. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Tuff Quest for their scholarship program for juniors.

Minimum bids will start at $60 and will be open until noon, CST, on Easter Sunday, March 31. We will not ship, but can bring the figurine to the National in Peoria. Payment can be made via Zelle or cash or check. Place your bids below.

For those attending Central States CC shows Feb. 17/18--We need sub choices for our Saturday lunches and an idea of which pizza you would prefer--cheese or pepperoni.

Sub sandwiches are Italian, three meat, ham, turkey, or roast beef--all with cheese. You can pay next week if you did not order with your entries. Lunches are $9 each.

Dinner reservations for Saturday after the show should be made now! We have a presentation by renowned repro vet Dr. Joann Randall (no charge) and an Italian buffet. It is with great sadness that I share the news that our dear Judy Belluomini passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.
Sweet Judy… She will be deeply missed by all who loved her. We will hold our special memories of Judy in our hearts forever. Judy‘s wonderful spirit, her love and devotion to her loving husband, Frank, her incredible passion for teaching, and her dedication to raising her beautiful collies made Judy the remarkable lady that she was. ❤️

Judy was a long term member of Central States Collie Club. She was most active in training her Collies in Obedience, receiving a Versatility Excellent Award on one of her dogs who also was the first Collie to receive a top Tracking award. She loved her mornings going tracking with her boys. We will miss Judy's smiling face.

We celebrated National Dog Day yesterday by participating in Meet the Breeds at the Great American Dog Show in Chicago. More participants joined in today. So many people stopped to see and pet the Collies. Central States members attending were
Laura Rizzo, Karen Soeder, Louise Palarik and her friend Chris Ploetz, and Emilea Bynum and her mother who came all the way from Indianapolis with their two smoothes to help out. They stayed for today and were joined by Lenise Adams, Jill Hansrote, and Laurie Lane and their dogs. The Collies all loved the attention and petting they received.
