After 46 seasons, Elke is finally (really) retiring from renting her beloved cottages in Eastham. After so many years of hosting your family vacations, work trips, honeymoons and adventures in the National Seashore, Elke is embarking on an adventure of her own. She looks forward to enjoying her first ever summer to herself on the Cape Cod beaches she fell in love with nearly five decades ago. She is grateful for the myriad kindred spirits she's met here, and the lasting connections that remain. Thank you all for the love, and we might run into you at the beach with our hands full of rocks. ox

The floofy siblings are accounted for, fluttering between treetops awaiting treats from their busy mom. All three adults from the house are nearby and active, and everyone looks very healthy. xo

A quick internet search suggests "Yellow-rumped Warblers winter across much of central and southeastern U.S., and they sometimes come to backyards if food is offered. To attract them, try putting out sunflower seed, raisins, suet, and peanut butter." I observed ours very near my suet feeder. 🌳🎶😍

It was brought to our attention that the oak trees on Cape Cod are being plagued by a tiny infestation of bug called lecanium scale. I saw it on twigs and even clothes lines. Then, it seemed to be gone. THEN while sipping coffee in the quiet of the deck I observed a new bird (new to our usual rotation) hastily pecking away at the branches of a nearby tree. I zoomed waaaaay in (video in the Comments - pardon the shakiness) to detect this gorgeous yellow-rumped warbler (in breeding colors) gobbling up the buggeroos! Isn't Nature great?!
