Elk Lake Lodge Elk Lake is the centerpiece of a 12,000-acre privately-owned forest preserve in the heart of the High Peaks.

Thank you for another wonderful season at Elk Lake Lodge! Even the black flies are taking a little break, but they’re already looking forward to welcoming you all back next spring!

CLEAR POND GATE: The gate will close to public motor vehicles on the morning of October 13, 2026 and remain closed until mud season May 2027. Hikers, please park at the Upper Elk Lake Rd parking lot, located 2.3 miles from the Dix Trailhead.

TRAIL CLOSURE: From the evening of October 24, 2026, through the morning of December 7, 2026, all hiking within the Elk Lake Lodge Conservation Easement is prohibited. This area will be completely closed to public access during this period.

Thank you for respecting these closures and helping care for this special place. See you next spring!

The colors are showing off, the mountains are slipping in and out of the clouds, and somehow even the drive in feels like part of the experience.

We’re in the final stretch of our 2026 season, with a full lodge and autumn putting on one hell of a finale.

Elk Lake, the High Peaks, and a perfect September afternoon made the most beautiful backdrop for Alex & Cooper’s day.

There was something especially meaningful about celebrating these two here. Thank you, Alex & Cooper, and all of your family and friends, for filling Elk Lake Lodge with so much love, laughter, and joy all weekend long.

It was a beautiful celebration, and one we’ll remember for a long time.

The celebrations have begun. 🤍

Last night’s rehearsal dinner was the sweetest start to a beautiful weekend celebrating Alex & Cooper at Elk Lake.

These two have already made some pretty special memories here together. Quiet paddles across the lake, mountain views, and time spent in a place that clearly means something to them. And now, they get to add one of the biggest memories of all: getting married here.

Good food, happy hearts, family and friends gathered together, and a view that showed off just a little. ✨

We feel pretty lucky to be part of their weekend. Here’s to Alex & Cooper, and a lifetime of adventures together. 🤍
