Did you know that Buster Keaton, the legendary silent film comedian - still ranked as one of the best actors of all time - fondly referred to Muskegon as "home"?
Many of Buster's most impressionable years were spent at the "actor's colony" in the Bluffton neighborhood. Bluffton, nestled under the shadow of Pigeon Hill, served as a serene summer retreat for vaudeville and stage performers like Buster. It offered a picturesque backdrop for artists to relax, socialize, and refine their craft away from the bustling entertainment hubs.
Buster's time in this beautiful setting allowed him to exchange ideas, recharge creatively, and unwind - all as he made the transition from vaudeville performer to one of the most celebrated silver screen actors. The summer days spent in the colony at Pigeon Hill played a crucial role in shaping Buster's artistic vision and comedic style, influencing his use of physical dexterity, deadpan expression, and daring stunts.
Turns out - great beer isn't the only thing that Pigeon Hill influenced 😉
