SEVERE WEATHER: MONDAY AWARENESS 🌧️

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- The City of North Myrtle Beach is advising residents and visitors to stay weather-aware as it continues to monitor the potential for periods of severe weather impacting the area through Monday, March 16.

A few isolated storms could still develop overnight, but the greater risk is expected Monday morning through the evening. The primary concern will be strong straight-line winds throughout the day Monday, with persistent wind gusts above 45 mph. There will also be a risk of storms capable of producing tornadoes. The first round of storms is expected early Monday morning after sunrise.

A second round of storms is expected later Monday as a line of storms moves quickly through the area ahead of a cold front. This could produce strong winds and possible microbursts.

Following the passage of the front, temperatures will drop significantly, with overnight lows Monday and daytime highs Tuesday, March 17, expected to remain in the low 40s.

Currently, the City plans to operate on normal schedules for Monday, March 16.

Residents are encouraged to monitor local forecasts, be prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions, and to secure loose outdoor items.
