Living in our beautiful beach community comes with so many perks, and one of the most exciting ones is the arrival of Sea Turtle Nesting Season! These magnificent creatures grace our shores each year to lay their eggs, and witnessing this natural wonder is truly awe-inspiring.
But with this excitement comes great responsibility. It's crucial that we all do our part to protect these precious turtles and their nests during this sensitive time. That's why it's important to know the do’s and don'ts for Sea Turtle Nesting Season.
🚫 Don't disturb nesting turtles or their nests.
🚫 Don't shine lights on the beach at night, as it can disorient hatchlings.
🚫 Don't leave any trash on the beach, as it can harm turtles and other marine life.
✅ Do fill in any holes you dig on the beach, as they can trap nesting turtles.
✅ Do keep your distance if you encounter a nesting turtle, and observe quietly from afar.
✅ Do report any injured or stranded turtles to the North Myrtle Beach Sea Turtle Patrol at (843) 213-9074
