I traveled 5.5 hours from SML to Topsail beach because the fishing was getting crowded lakefront. The universe laughed and gifted me this scene at breakfast. Fishing boat 50 yards off shore actively casting a net.

A nesting loggerhead sea turtle was struck and killed by a car on Anna Marie Island early Wednesday morning, according to officials.

So happy that momma turtles have returned to Topsail Island. Hopefully guest of The Lazy Beagle Beach House get to witness a nest being discovered.

Remember - during this season to keep all lights facing the beach out after 9pm. We don't want Momma Turtle getting turned around on the beach mistaking house lights for the moon beam on the water.
