The original 1931 wooden porch ceiling revealed. For years we’ve been staring at the sheet rock wondering what was underneath it. When the cottages were initially built, they all had a large open porch. Eventually, the Days family decided to glass it in, doubling the size of the living room.
We were happy to find 8” tongue and groove pine in excellent condition. We suspect it was covered in 1955 along with the rest of the interior ceilings and walls. It’s nice thinking about all the people who’ve sat under the porch roof looking out over the bay these 96 seasons.
