With both excitement and some sadness, we will be passing the torch here at the Orendaga to a new set of folks. It has been a great adventure, and we will miss the many guests we've met here over the past 3+ years. Stay warm out there!

Otters rely on super dense super fur to keep them warm and insulate themselves during Adirondack winters. The rest of us have to work a little bit harder.

With wind chill getting close to -40°F this weekend in Tupper Lake, here's a reminder of how to properly layer in order to comfortably enjoy the outdoors:

Base layer: wicks sweat off your skin
Mid layer: retains body heat to protect you from the cold
Outer layer: shields you from wind and rain
Accessories: Protect those hands, feet and face from the elements
