We are committed to reinvesting in Shorely Blessed so our guests enjoy a consistently high-quality experience.

Earlier this spring, we installed new exterior side entrance and double oceanfront doors. Guests who stayed with us this summer and found the double doors hard to open and close will be glad to know the installer has properly adjusted them, and they now operate smoothly.

We’ve also just added new oceanfront main-floor windows, opening up the sightlines even more so you can enjoy every wave, sunrise, and dolphin sighting during your stay.

We look forward to welcoming you back and sharing these updates that make Shorely Blessed better than ever.

Additional updates to Shorely Blessed - Oak Island this spring included several notable features designed to enhance guest comfort and convenience:
1. Outdoor Shower: The large private outdoor shower is divided into two areas:
• Dry Area: Includes a bench and clothing hooks for convenience.
• Wet Area: Equipped with a hot and cold water shower and a foot wash.
2. Water Heating: With an 80-gallon water heater with a heat pump, guests can simultaneously enjoy hot showers in the three indoor bathrooms and the private outdoor shower without running out of hot water.
3. Ground-Level Beach Access Door: This new door allows guests to easily move from the beach to the outdoor shower and access the ground-level storage under the home.
4. Ground-Level Beachside Deck: The new deck provides a space for guests to wash their feet and clean off their beach toys before entering the home.

We are delighted to share that this spring we updated the family room with new furniture and accessories. The new custom couches are super comfortable, and the new open layout allows for more seating, creating a welcoming and spacious environment for our guest to enjoy.

Hurricane Ian 🌀 was nasty and made a big mess throughout the island. Shorely Blessed - Oak Island made it through without any damage to the house. The dune did its job but suffered significant erosion.

The FEMA dune and berm work completed in March 2022 served its intended purpose and held back the majority of Ian’s surge and waves. Without question, we would have had 3’ - 4’ of storm surge and waves flowing under our house and would have lost our extended deck as occurred during Isaias back in 2020.

We take pride in our beach house and continue to reinvest into the property. This week we replaced the first floor bedroom mattress and we replaced the entire bedroom suite in the right side second floor oceanfront bedroom. This new bedroom suite includes a king bed with a new memory foam mattress.

The FEMA Phase II Hurricane Florence beach nourishment project has reached the beach behind Shorely Blessed - Oak Island. The beach dune will be deeper with a more gradual slope and the berm will be raised, allowing for more beach surface area.
