A Red Flag Warning is in effect for Oak Island today due to dangerous rip currents and rough surf conditions.

While the beach remains open for walking, relaxing, and enjoying the shoreline, swimming and other in-water activities are strongly discouraged.

Please use caution and stay safe while enjoying the beach today.

JUNE 18, 2026 โ€ข ๐ŸŸฅRED FLAG NOTICE๐ŸŸฅ

The National Weather Service has upgraded the Beach Conditions Forecast to ๐ŸŸฅRED FLAG๐ŸŸฅ for the remainder of the day on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

During a RED FLAG there is a HIGH RISK of rip currents and rough surf conditions, with no โ€œsafeโ€ water depth identified. The beach areas are still open to enjoy, but ocean swimming and in-water activity should NOT take place.
