After spending years making Moms' Beach House our perfect home (including a high-end addition and renovation of the original house and great neighbors), we've decided to put it on the market and downsize to something smaller. We had planned to retire to Oak Island, but for medical reasons need to stay closer to Duke Med. We are truly brokenhearted about it. I’m certain there was some drama that led to this tiny car being placed above the elevator exit door! I’m guessing it was some child’s favorite car all week, and as they said goodbye to Oak Island, they didn’t want to say goodbye to the car.

The water is very calm, the tide is very low and the beach is not yet crowded this morning. It is Friday, so I expect things will look different by this afternoon! We will be turning our home and our favorite place over to our summer guests starting next week. See you again in the fall, Oak Island!

First turtle nest of 2024 in NC is on Oak Island this year. Thanks to our great turtle protection program for keeping it safe. Expect some hatchlings by early July!
