A.K. Bissell Park in Oak Ridge, TN - is located 1 block behind the DoubleTree by Hilton Oak Ridge - Knoxville. Yesterday, we attended the Groundbreaking event for the Scarboro 85 Monument. The Scarboro 85 Monument will provide a permanent place to remember the courage and experiences of the 85 Black students who helped integrate Oak Ridge’s schools in 1955. The monument site is near the Peace Pavilion and International Friendship Bell.

K9 Kokus Memorial Tribute

It saddens us to know that the Oak Ridge Police Department laid their beloved K9, Kokus, to rest yesterday here in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. A memorial ceremony was held inside the Conference Center to honor his service and memory.

We extend our deepest condolences to Kokus’ handler, Officer Jared McGaha, as well as to the entire Oak Ridge Police Department family. We know the bond between a K9 and their handler is truly special, and the loss of a trusted partner is never easy.

Thank you, Kokus, for your faithful service and dedication.

The DoubleTree hosted our First Chamber Event this month for the Anderson County Chamber Members. Even with many events happening throughout the city that day, we truly appreciate everyone who took the time to join us. It was wonderful connecting with fellow Chamber members, enjoying great food, and getting an inside look at the DoubleTree’s newly renovated guest rooms.
Thanks to everyone who came out and helped make this a great Chamber gathering! We’re grateful for the continued support of our local business community and look forward to seeing everyone at the next event.
