It’s time to “spring” forward! ⏰

As daylight saving time begins and we gain an extra hour of evening sunshine, it’s the perfect opportunity to hit the trails at Yosemite National Park. Although many higher-elevation areas are still closed for the winter, there are plenty of front country hikes that showcase the park’s unique beauty, ranging from easy to moderate to strenuous.

🟢Interested in wheelchair accessible, pet friendly hikes that show off views of Half Dome, Sentinel Rock, El Capitan, and Yosemite Falls? Cook’s Meadow Loop and the Lower Yosemite Falls trail are perfect for hikers of all ages and abilities.

🟡Looking for a hike with an optional longer loop that gets the blood pumping but doesn’t require too much stress? The Mirror Lake Loop provides unique views of the eastern end of the park, reflected in the waters of a naturally formed lake.

🔴 Ready (and prepared) for a challenge? Tackle Vernal Fall or the Yosemite Falls Trail for a strenuous climb and sweeping views of Yosemite Valley from above. With the extra daylight, you’ll have more time to pace yourself and soak in the scenery. Just remember to allow plenty of time and take breaks as needed.

🔵 For a winter-exclusive experience, venture beyond Yosemite Valley and try snowshoeing at Badger Pass or among the towering giants in Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias.

The weather in spring can be unpredictable, with winter storms still very likely to pass through the park over the coming month. When this happens, snow can linger on the ground, and trails can remain icy throughout the park. Pack warm layers, carry plenty of water, and check trail conditions before you go.

Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or a first-time visitor, daylight saving time is your sign to get outside and make the most of the adventure waiting in Yosemite. Did any of these trails catch your interest? Visit our hiking webpage for more detailed information on each trail, including mileage, elevation gain/loss, and average hike durations: https://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/hiking.htm.

Happy hiking and enjoy the extra daylight!
