“Deep rest in progress…”

Spotted: Green Iguana (Iguana iguana)

Not the most common sight at TQR but if you’re lucky, you’ll catch one grazing or slowly moving through the grounds before settling into a still, low energy state like this

Thee Green Iguana is considered invasive to South Florida however it has adapted well to human altered environments with abundant vegetation. At Thee Quad, they’ll occasionally pass through like many other, feed & recharge in quiet corners of our habitat resort

This one measured roughly ~38 inches from head to tail — calm, aware & completely unbothered

Despite how still they may appear, they are not dead. Iguanas can enter a temporary low response state to conserve energy or regulate their body

If you encounter one like this, it’s best to let them be unless you are experienced in handling reptiles
