Friends of Mildred Kanipe Memorial Park

Friends of Mildred Kanipe Memorial Park Committed to provide volunteer services to Douglas County to improve and care for the 1100 acre Mildred Kanipe Memorial County Park.

1,100 acres of oak woodland conifer forests, creeks, rolling hills, orchards and pastures. Historical structures include a turn-of-the-century schoolhouse, a farmhouse, and outbuildings. Mildred Kanipe single-handedly ranched and managed these lands most of her life. Upon her death in 1983 she bequeathed the ranch
with a trust fund to Douglas County with the agreement that the land be managed as a county park.

We love this so much!! We are happy to support and help with this event! We know Mildred would be pleased!

Hikers at Mildred Kanipe Memorial Park might expect to see sweeping grassland, roaming cattle and dense oak forest. What they likely don't expect is a 9-foot grand piano, but that's

We have been asked to mention here, that some people have been harassing the peacocks and their babies by chasing and trying to catch them.

PLEASE DON’T chase and try to catch the peacocks… They are such a beautiful and loved part of the Park by most folks and one of Mildred‘s treasured legacies… This kind of behavior ruins it for everyone…

Thank-you Rocksi Johnson! So Much!! -- for sharing your beautiful photo of the Underwood Barn!!

Thank-you Rocksi Johnson! So Much!! -- for sharing your beautiful photo of the Underwood Barn!!

I love storm photos. So much character in the sky. I have looked at this barn a hundred times and this time, it was different. Rain had just moved passed. The sky was definitely showing up. The barn peeped light through the space between the boards with the setting sun. Yet the barn still sit, in the same spot as always. Just beautiful!
