Delighted to donate to an organization that was near and dear the heart of Thelma Conner, founder and long-time proprietress of Dunes Manor. We presented the hotel’s iconic portraits of the late Thelma and Milton Conner – along with a check for $11,500 – to Atlantic General Hospital

A savvy businesswoman and a passionate community servant who advocated for “a new chapter in healthcare,” Thelma Conner hosted the kickoff campaign to build Atlantic General in 1990 and served as one of the first members of the hospital's board of directors.

She was also the first female president of the Ocean City Chamber of Commerce and served a term as president of the Hotel Motel Restaurant Association. Her many accolades include recognition as the Chamber’s 1985 Outstanding Citizen of the Year and the 1994 Maryland Independent Hotelier of the Year.

Our monetary donation to Atlantic General represents one-third of the total raised via auction of Dunes Manor’s furnishings and memorabilia as well as matching gifts. The rest will be donated to two more nonprofits that were also meaningful to Thelma and Milton Conner.

It was an evening of music, merriment and memories as we gathered to celebrate Miss Shirley’s many years of playing piano at Dunes Manor. In addition to an abundance of gifts, she received a Governor’s Citation commending her for “50 years of touching our hearts with beautiful music.”

Word’s out about our latest project: a total renovation and rebrand for Dunes Manor Hotel, Ocean City, MD. Work is under way on a full floor-to-ceiling upfit and, upon completion in late Spring 2023, the property will re-open as Hilton Garden Inn Ocean City Beachfront.

We acquired this 35-year-old hotel in December 2021, part of our strategy to purchase, physically transform and rebrand existing assets in prime leisure destinations. Affiliating an ideally located property like Dunes Manor with the Hilton brand creates a powerful draw for travelers who appreciate the consistent quality and numerous benefits of the Hilton Honors loyalty program.

OTO has successfully repositioned several other beachfront hotels under the family of brands — indeed, we recently earned Hilton’s 2021 Conversion of the Year award in recognition of the dramatic transformation of a former Howard Johnson into a in St. Pete Beach, Florida. So we’re extremely optimistic about the potential for the soon-to-be in , a destination that attracts more than 8 million visitors every year.

Partnering with OTO in the total transformation of this 12-story, 170-room hotel are 3877, designer; , interior general contractor; , exterior general contractor; and Simpson Gumpertz & Heger, structural engineer.
