Atlantis Inn

Atlantis Inn Atlantis Inn Luxury B&B in Ocean City, NJ In 1894, one of the Lake brothers, Rev. James E. Lake, purchased the site from the State of New Jersey. Rev. Pelkey.

The Atlantis Inn stands at 120 years old, almost as old as Ocean City itself which was founded by the Lake brothers in 1879. Lake and his wife Emily, took residence in Ocean City’s grandest Victorian Mansion beginning May 1905. They rented to guests until April 15, 1922, when the Lakes sold the property to Edmund and Martha Holcroft who built a large addition to the back of the building in the 192

0s, resulting in the mansion’s current square footage of 10,000 square feet. The inn was named the “Croft Hall Hotel” which consisted of 30 rooms, 4 apartments (one which doubled as a restaurant for some time), 9 shared baths, outside showers with dressing rooms and a laundry facility. Throughout the 1920s, high-society Philadelphians vacationed at the Croft Hall Hotel and its notoriety was well-published in Philadelphia newspapers. In 1945, the Holcrofts sold the property to Louisa T. Corson, who quickly flipped the property 6 months later to Edwin J. and Harriette E. in 1948, Jonas Jasinskas later acquired and held the property, selling it in 1975 to Theodore and Janina Mychailyshyn who operated it for the next 26 years before passing it on to their daughter Kristina in 2001 who undertook the modernization of the building. After almost a 100-year run as a seasonal guest house, the property showed its age. Kristina and Robert promptly launched its renovation in June 2002 and in record time, relaunched the hotel on June 30, 2003. The building was completely redesigned, retaining only the four walls and the interior staircases. It had all the trappings of a modern facility – advanced mechanical systems and hvac systems, fire suppression and alarm systems, vented gas fireplaces, over-sized whirlpools and spa body showers, Andersen-strong windows and balcony doors, soundproofing, custom millwork and wainscoting throughout; American cherry hardwood interior flooring; Honduran mahogany covered porch verandah and a 1,600-square-foot Philippine Mahogany rooftop deck with panoramic ocean views. The Inn aimed for a sophisticated European chic style, and its furnishings and décor were themed after elegant French, Italian, and Spanish destinations. . The Atlantis Inn is a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence Awardee, every year since 2012.
