Today we remember the Americans who gave their lives in service to our country.

Here at Klipsan Beach Life Saving Station, that remembrance feels tied to the ground itself. This Station began with U.S. Life-Saving Service, before later becoming the #309 Coast Guard Station. Long before it welcomed guests, it was a place built to serve the nation. The Guardsmen and Lifesaversstationed here long labored and sacrificed to those ends.

This Memorial Day, we are especially grateful to see a restored flagpole standing again on the station grounds. We want to thank our guests over the past years for making this possible.

Today we are thankful for those who served and especially mindful of those who never came home.
