Long overdue sofa upgrade! Although Jackie's super comfy couch and loveseat served us well, the cumulative wear and tear has officially terminated their duty cycles. We've replaced them with this amazingly cozy corner couch. Perhaps our guests will be a little more careful with their winespills? 😬

Finally finished the downstairs outdoor shower. Next upgrade will be concrete padding under the house and in the carport to provide sand-free entry into the house. Also plan to add a raised deck underneath with outdoor furniture to create a comfortable shaded space to catch the summer southwest breeze.

Today's project (well, might stretch into tomorrow): finally reinstalling the dock waterline. One unexpected bonus was realizing I could remove one grating panel for better access to the elbow fittings and stainless collars. I'll still have to get wet eventually to finish the rest of the collars, but this was so much easier than messing with the PVC primer and glue on a ladder in 15kt southwest winds. Looking forward to being able to wash the boat and clean fish again without having to carry a bucket back and forth.

Merry Christmas to all our guests, and thank you for taking such good care of our home during your visit. Ocracoke had record visitation this year despite the pandemic, and we are grateful that you felt safe here. We have some exciting news to announce in 2021, but for now, Jackie and I wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season.

Finally back on the island and the dock is still there, so it's time to get back to posting sunset pics. If you are wondering what that Loch Nessie shape is in the water just left of the sun, it's the outflow from the cooling system at the water plant, a big pipe that used to be anchored on the bottom, but lurched up after a storm. Every now and then you'll see a bubbling eruption but don't worry, it's just water. Hint: good fishing spot too.
