HATTERAS FERRY UPDATES ⛴️🗓️🌊

Hatteras Ferry Route to Run Alternate Schedule During Dredging Operation
HATTERAS – The N.C. Ferry System’s Hatteras-Ocracoke vehicle ferry route will be switching to an alternate schedule May 30 as a critical dredging operation gets underway in Sloop Channel.

Sloop Channel provides the entryway to the route’s South Dock terminal on the north end of Ocracoke Island.

As of May 30, the schedule will be as follows:

Hatteras-Ocracoke: 5:30 a.m., 6 a.m., 7 a.m., 8 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m., noon, 12:30 p.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Ocracoke-Hatteras: 6:30 a.m., 6:45 a.m., 7:30 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 9:45 a.m., 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 4 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 6 p.m., 7 p.m., 8 p.m. and 9 p.m.

The dredging operation, performed by a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers contractor, is expected to take about one month to complete, depending on weather conditions.

Once the dredging is complete, the Hatteras vehicle route will return to its full summer schedule.

We are ready for our June 1st Silver Lake Hotel check-ins!!! Lots of final touches completed this weekend, the parking lot leveled & graded with gravel, concrete parking blocks in place around building 1, and more! It's a great day on Ocracoke!

We are getting close! Furniture going in, final touch-ups, "punch list" items, clean-up, and parking lot grading! The 2-story building will be opening very soon!

We know you will love the incredible transformations we have made including the addition of two new multi-room waterfront suites, one with an additional private roof top deck and one with an additional adjoing room option. The rooms now feature commercial HVAC units, built-in humidity control units in each room, tile walk-in showers, luxury bedding, mini-fridges with microwaves, stylish decor and furnishings, and many other comfort upgrades to make your island stay more enjoyable.

It's gonna be a big week at the Silver Lake Hotel! Crews are finishing up the decks and railings on the porches as we speak, the floors are being sanded and finished, and we will be getting it ready for furniture in the next couple of weeks.

Also keep a close watch as online reservation services will be going live soon as well. There are a lot of projects to finish up, but completion of the 2-story building is coming soon!

Painting crews are hard at work today, the new composite decking on all the porches and walkways is going down, our staff is unboxing and assembling furniture... literally every corner of the property is full of action. It is getting VERY exciting as we start moving in and getting ready to start receiving guests in the completely new 2-story building this season!

Our crews will soon begin the massive reconstruction project of the 4-story building which includes all new room layouts, elevator, and a swimming pool! We will be working on this project through this season, the fall, and winter with hopes of having it completed in early spring of 2027.
