Summer at Lighthouse Landing 🌊☀️

What a season it’s been so far! From sunny beach days and gardens in full bloom to warm Ogunquit evenings and welcoming both new and familiar faces through our doors, there’s been so much to love about summer at Lighthouse Landing.

We’ve spent the season soaking up everything that makes summer in Maine so special: treasured time with family and friends, trips to the beach, walks into town, beautiful coastal views, lots of laughter, and plenty of time enjoying our little corner of Ogunquit. 🤍

Here’s a look back at just a few of our favorite moments so far. And luckily, there’s still plenty of summer left to enjoy! ⚓️🌸

⚓️ How well do you know Lighthouse Landing?

We’re sharing a few fun facts about our little corner of Ogunquit! 🌊🤍

💡 Fun Fact 1: Our building is over 100 years old! As soon as I saw it, I fell in love with its charm and character. All of the renovations we’ve done as we created Lighthouse Landing, from the shingles outside to the seaside decor inside, are meant to honor the property’s history and enhance its old time beach house beauty.

🌊 Fun Fact 2: The name Lighthouse Landing is inspired by our location near the ocean and the sense of comfort lighthouses bring as they guide travelers home. I’ve always loved lighthouses - their strength, their beauty and the sense of comfort they give. I’m happy that our name so perfectly captures my vision for the inn: a safe haven and respite that welcomes guests with a feeling of being home by the sea.

🏡 Fun Fact 3: Curious about the louvered doors on our second floor suites? Before the days of air conditioning, they helped with airflow in the suites during the summertime! While they are delicate - and we are very careful with them! - they are one of the many beautiful details that make up Lighthouse Landing.

⚓️ Fun Fact 4: We think that many years ago, the property was a family beach house. The house even had a porch! We figured that out when we were doing some of the initial renovations and found the blue ceiling of the old porch hidden in the ceiling above Ocean Cove Suite!

🤍 Fun Fact 5: The view from the top of Israel Head Road, where the inn is located, has always been my favorite view in Ogunquit. It’s our property manager Barbara’s favorite view too! I love that as you come up the hill from Shore Road and pull into our parking area, you see the ocean straight ahead! It always makes me feel like I’m home ❤️

How many did you already know? And for our returning guests, what’s something you’ve noticed about Lighthouse Landing that first-time visitors might miss? 👀

One of our favorite parts of summer is seeing the gardens at Lighthouse Landing in full bloom 🌸

After all the time spent refreshing the flower beds and planting new blooms earlier in the season, everything has filled in beautifully. By this point in the summer, the gardens are bursting with color and adding that extra bit of coastal charm we love around the inn.

We’ll be soaking up every bit of it while summer lasts 🌿☀️

The sights and sounds of a beautiful August evening in Ogunquit, on the walk to Perkins Cove from the inn.

If you look closely enough, you can just make out the sailboats in the distance. ⛵

The sun may be setting a little earlier, but the views are as spectacular as ever.

There are so many beautiful lighthouses in Maine! Nubble Lighthouse Nubble Light in York is one of my favorites, just 7.4 miles from Lighthouse Landing.

I hadn’t visited in a while and wanted to make sure I didn’t miss the chance to stop by before the summer ends. And I finally got there, taking an early morning (though not too early!) drive out to see it.

It was just as lovely as I remembered, with the morning sun framing the lighthouse, perched on its own little island, and the breathtaking views all around. I always appreciate the sense of peace this spot seems to bring me, just sitting on a bench and enjoying the sights and sounds of the ocean. It’s beautiful in the summer, but a great spot to visit year round.

One of our favorite things about Lighthouse Landing is our beautiful outdoor space that brings everyone together. It’s a favorite of our guests too! 💕

Our gardens are in full bloom, the grills are ready for summer dinners, and there’s plenty of room to relax after a day at the beach. It’s also a lovely spot for families, with a spacious lawn where kids can play while parents unwind.

We put a lot of love into designing and caring for the grounds, and seeing our guests enjoy them makes it all worthwhile. On your next visit, make sure to take a little time to sit outside, slow down, relax and just enjoy. 💐
