We Thought It Was Time to Properly Introduce Ourselves!
We are Peter and Tricia, a local family of four with strong roots here in Maine. I (Peter) grew up nearby in Wells, and Tricia is originally from central Maine. She now works in our local school district as a special education teacher. Our two children are in the local middle school.
Captain’s Quarters is not owned by a hotel chain, a franchise, or a large company. It is simply our family and our five-room motel.
This is the community where we live, work, and raise our children. We enjoy being involved whenever we can, whether that means coaching youth sports, serving on a town committee, or supporting the people and organizations around us.
Our family also includes Benson, our mini Goldendoodle. He is almost a year old and has become a very fitting little mascot for a dog-friendly motel.
Our connection to Captain’s Quarters began well before we became its full owners. We worked at the property during its renovation in 2009, later became part owners, and eventually had the opportunity to purchase the motel completely.
Today, we personally operate every part of Captain’s Quarters. We answer the phone and emails, manage the reservations, prepare the rooms, take care of the property, make repairs, and continue finding ways to improve it.
When you call or email us, you are not reaching a corporate reservation center or a distant management company. You are speaking directly with the family that owns and runs the motel.
Captain’s Quarters is a simple, five-room motel where every room welcomes dogs. We do not try to be a large resort. Our goal is to provide a clean, comfortable, and relaxed place where guests can enjoy Ogunquit with their dogs.
We have also recently started learning more about the history of the property.
According to town records, the building dates to approximately 1950. Vintage postcards show that it once operated as the Anita Motel, a classic Route 1 roadside motel located one-half mile north of Ogunquit.
A great deal has changed since then, but the basic purpose of this little property has remained much the same: giving visitors a comfortable place to stay while enjoying Ogunquit and the Maine coast.
We are proud to be the current caretakers of that history and grateful that Captain’s Quarters has become such an important part of our family’s life.
To everyone who has stayed with us, returned for another visit, recommended us to someone, shared one of our posts, or supported our family in any way—thank you.
Every reservation truly matters to a small business like ours.
From our family, and Benson, thank you for supporting our little motel!
