We’re very proud to share that the beautiful feature story about Albert the Camel and Alex at Rancho Grande has won an Edward R. Murrow Regional Award for Best Feature Reporting.

Congratulations to Caroline Feraday and the team at KCLU for telling Albert’s story with so much warmth and heart. We’re grateful they captured the special bond between a rescued camel and the people who love him.

If you haven’t seen the story yet, here it is:

We get so many requests to visit the ranch and see the animals. We love visitors and there’s nothing we’d like more than to welcome people to Rancho Grande for a day trip, but we can’t. Ventura County regulations do not permit us to operate commercial daytime visitor programs at Rancho Grande. We do have an application pending seeking approval for daytime guest activities, but that approval has not yet been granted. We are hopeful that with your support our application will one day be approved.

From all of us at Rancho Grande, we just want to wish everyone a safe and relaxing Memorial Day weekend, and send a big thank you to all those who serve this country each and every day.

We’re lucky to live in such a beautiful nation, and we never take that for granted or forget those are no longer with us. We’re grateful, we’re proud, and we’ll be thinking of all of you this weekend.
