Today, Atlantic Birches will begin its next chapter. After seven years, thousands of guests, and countless new friends, we have decided to move on.
Running an inn has been challenging yet more rewarding than we could have ever imagined. Although we all played different roles depending on the day’s demands, Meghan was always the heart of Atlantic Birches.
It has been immensely comforting to see returning guests who all lovingly shared their cheerful memories of Meg. We were thrust into our busy season after losing her and while the reflections of her kindness and thoughtfulness, her love to chat, and her genuine interest in getting to know each one of them helped to get us through each day, we know it will not be the same without her.
We are so grateful for the compassion of our Atlantic Birches community throughout this summer, as well as the generosity of both returning and first-time guests with their many prayers, sentiments of hope, and gifts of all varieties meant to help us keep Meg close.
We want to extend an enormous thanks to our wonderful friends, family and business partners, without whom this summer would not have been possible, including:
Holly Pignatelli and Dave Galisa
Molly Sardella and Chris Pearson
Marielle Fernandes and Chris Fernandes
Bob Sardella and Maureen Keegan
Mike Sardella
Melinda Searle and Bobby Searle
Aaron and Ashley Gregory
Bobby and Sue Nichols
Glynn and Ginny Reinders
Elisha Cicio
Earl Payne
Shawn O’Neill
Sally Baillargeon Bigsal's Smoke Shop
We will cherish our time as Innkeepers. Beyond the usual ins and outs of running an inn, we (and the lawn) have also enjoyed hosting weddings, vow renewals, elopements, family reunions, bridal showers, golf outings, clam bakes, Iron Man pasta dinners, Sangria Saturdays. We were always thrilled to bring back empty breakfast plates to the kitchen, which was never a challenge on blueberry stuffed french toast mornings! Most importantly, we have loved meeting so many lovely people from all over the world.
Now we are looking forward to *our* next chapter--a real retirement! We will be able to spend more time with our family (especially the grandkids!), to travel, to have a real summer, and to finally allow ourselves the time and space to grieve our beautiful, golden-hearted daughter Meg Sardella.
Thank you to all. Remember to smile, breathe, be happy--we were at the beach.
