For the second year in a row, the Pine View Lodge will not be renting to tourists and our normal summer vacationers. The mask mandate in our business and many other requirements have officially been lifted off our hospitality business and we appreciate that. However, Canadians have not been allowed across the borders and restrictions are still in place for J-1 students causing a serious staffing shortage in OOB. Very soon, we will be making rooms available for the 2022 calendar year, but for the entire 2021 season, our establishment will have its office remained closed, the pool closed and no transient reservations will be possible. Thank you for your understanding. See you in 2022.

The Governor of Maine’s Emergency Order and Executive Order Restrictions for lodging operations in Maine have created an environment whereby we cannot justify opening our establishment up for reservations. It is nearly mid-July and the state (Massachusetts) which typically brings our greatest number of guests year after year are still prevented from coming to OOB with a required 14-day quarantine or testing that is not available.

Since our Massachusetts guests are prohibited from vacationing in Maine we will remain closed. LIFT THE QUARANTINE NOW GOVERNOR MILLS!

While the state opened up to protestors/rioters - the iron fist regulations is wiping out an entire industry = Tourism & Hospitality

To our Monkey Trunks family,

We have come to the difficult decision not to open for the 2020 summer season and to remain closed permanently. We have had an AMAZING journey bringing joy to our many customers over the years and cherish the friendships that have been created because of Monkey Trunks. Thank you to all of our employees for facilitating unforgettable experiences for our customers. Our dedicated employees have been the driver behind an attraction unlike any other in New England. While you won’t see anyone riding on a Monkey Trunks zipline or climbing on our cargo nets this summer, it brings us tremendous happiness to look back on all of the incredible experiences our customers and employees have had over the years. We are confident the time spent at Monkey Trunks will be forever remembered. Thank you for your loyalty and continued support over the years.

As this chapter closes, we know that the Monkey Trunks spirit will live on and you will hear stories 30 years from now about an employee’s awesome summer job or stories of the incredible family vacation that was topped by visiting Monkey Trunks. It’s been a wild ride for all of us and we encourage you to continue to try new outdoor activities with your friends and families while enjoying all of what New England has to offer.

Due to the 2020 Scamdemic and by order of Maine’s Governor Mills who has ordered that all Maine lodging establishments to not take ANY reservations through til July 1st and no clear guidelines and no responses for relief with SBA loan; PPP or any other relief - it is with great sadness and disappointment that effective immediately:

1. All reservations made for the summer season are officially canceled.
2. All pre-payments and deposits have been returned to all guests for summer 2020
3. We are taking only phone reservations for summer 2021.
4. Booking(com), in respect of Maine’s government shutdown of transient guests and tourists have made it unable for us to even receive unpaid reservations.
5. The virus is real and deadly but things got political. The scam, we believe, has nothing to do with the actual virus itself but the overblown hype of the problem and the government’s role in resolving the issue considering all factors including impacts of those who were forced to close establishments and operations without resolving mitigating circumstances.
6. Our business, our long-time guests, and our community are strong and will persevere. We will be back to serving tourists, vacationers and transient guests as soon as all government intrusions are reasonably contained and dealt with to operate a fun and family friendly lodging establishment.

Our Marvin Gardens Motel across the street will follow the same path as Pine View Lodge.

2018 Staff at Pine View Lodge was fantastic. It’s not too late to stop in and say ‘Hello’. It’s still great beach weather.
