The Ozarks Wild Horses Road Trip takes you to four place among Missouri's Ozark National Scenic Riverways where you can often see wild horses running free among this beautiful area of wilderness! Around 50 horses live here today, split into small herds near Broadfoot, Shawnee Creek, Round Spring, and Rocky Creek. These horses have roamed the hills, gravel bars, and river bottoms for close to 100 years. You might spot them grazing in open fields, standing along the Current River, or moving through the trees near the Jacks Fork River. Good places to look include Shawnee Creek Campground, Round Spring Campground, Echo Bluff State Park, and Broadfoot Field. Years ago, there were talks of removing the horses, but the Missouri Wild Horse League stepped in to help protect them. They are not fenced in and they are not trained, so there is never a promise you will see them, but these four stops give you the best shot at catching a glimpse of these wild Ozark horses.

The Devil’s Bathtub in Arkansas is a strange and eye-catching rock pool tucked beneath a tall bluff along the Indian Creek Trail near the Buffalo National River, just outside Ponca. Most days, the tub sits dry and empty, carved deep into the rock like nature’s own bowl. But after a good rain, things change. A small waterfall often spills over the edge, filling the tub with clear water and turning the spot into something special. Whether it’s full or bone dry, it’s still a cool place to stop and look around. The name comes from old local stories that say dark spirits once used this pool, which only adds to the creepy feel and keeps the legend alive.

The Ultimate Arkansas "No-Hike Waterfalls" Road Trip lets you see beautiful falls without long walks or hard trails. This route includes 11 waterfalls, and none need more than a short stroll from the car. Many can be seen right from the road or an easy overlook. Late winter and early spring are the best times to go, since rain brings these falls to life and the water is often a beautiful teal blue. Along this route you'll see Cedar Falls, viewed from a cliffside overlook where water drops into a deep hollow. Six Finger Falls sits along a creek and is reached by a flat 100-yard walk. Falling Water Falls pours under a bridge and can be seen without leaving the roadside. Little Missouri Falls spreads wide over rock ledges after a short 0.15-mile walk. And plenty more!

The Ghost Town of Rush in Arkansas is one of the state's most scenic and well-preserved lost towns! Once a booming zinc mining community with close to 5,000 people during World War I, Rush now sits quiet along the Buffalo National River. You can walk the same paths miners once used and see old mine shafts, abandoned homes, rusted equipment, and buildings slowly being taken over by the Ozark woods. Several easy trails guide you through the ruins, with signs explaining how the ore was pulled from the ground and shipped out by rail. Visit in winter and you might catch the entire landscape dusted in snow, giving this silent, time-frozen town an even more eerie feel.
