Hello friends,

I know it's been a long time since we've posted on this account. Most updates have been on our Patreon, and I intend to post another update there today.

As you may or may not have heard, we've encountered difficulties with various county offices due to some complaints that were registered that we were not given timely notice of.
The result is that we were told we needed to stop operations with no effective warning or process of escalation.
We've been unable to host larps for a few months now, which breaks my heart every single day as I think of the impact this is having on our community, our ability to pay our bills, and on our friends who are trying to consistently run their larps.

We have had letters of support written, which is helpful, and some of our friends have created a GoFundMe to help pay for the various engineering reports that are required for us to prove that everything on the site is fine and dandy (or if it's not, what the plan is to rectify it).
So far, the news from the engineers we've hired is good. The main downside is the uncertainty of when everything will be done, submitted and reviewed.

I do apologize for the lack of information that's been posted here. Honestly, finding out that images and posts from this page were misinterpreted and used against us as part of the anonymous complaints was disheartening.
But this will all soon be behind us, and that day cannot come soon enough. In the meantime, I did want to thank all of those larps, larpers, and supportive community members who have reached out with financial, emotional, and manual support. We continue to tackle our issues as a community, and I know that I would have faced much darker days if it wasn't for all of the guiding lights and helping hands you all have offered.

More to come, and hopefully soon. We know that many larps are waiting on us for re-opening news, and we're trying to stay on top of all communications.
If you have questions, please feel free to reach out, and I'll respond as soon/best as I can.
Right now I know the main question is "when?", and unfortunately that's the main question I don't currently have an answer to other than: "As soon as possible."

Lots of love to all of you,
Chantelle

Thanks to a very generous donation from Xen Hunter, Middleground now has an AED on site!

This will offer an added layer of medical assistance and safety on site until medical professionals arrive.

We've been spending some time painting and updating lighting fixtures.

Tomorrow, we hopefully begin our build on some additional small buildings across the creek.
Pictures to come soon!

Also, as an FYI, our 2022 calendar is starting to get a fair amount of bookings, and 2021 is pretty much fully booked going forward. If any larps were hoping to get dates that haven't already, I'd recommend reaching out on FB, through our website, or message Chantelle directly.

Over on the Discord server for our Patreon patrons, voting has taken place over the last several days on a name for our tavern building. The names were submitted several months ago by upper tier patrons, and we had a lot of fantastic submissions (names I hope to see turn up again in many cases), but a clear winner emerged.

Henceforth, on Middleground maps and materials, the tavern building shall be known as the Dirty Dagger, and a pictographic placard for the building is in the works!

A huge thank-you to Refuge LARP Seattle https://www.facebook.com/groups/refugeseattle/?ref=share&exp=e8c2 for all their marvelous volunteer work this past Saturday, making the site a more beautiful place!
They cleared out blackberry bushes, brush, and stumps, clearing up more space, and added a rope fence along the creek ridge for added safety.

Beautiful job, and thank you again!

Hello beautiful larp community!

As the summer blossoms and more and more people are getting vaccinated, folks are starting to look towards the future and think of when events may safely be able to start up again.

With the generous help of our volunteers and patrons, we're still around and kicking.
Our planned site improvements needed to take a back seat to simply existing and making sure we could pay ongoing loan and utility payments, but we've continued to work on improvements on the cheap where we can, and with some generous donations, we have more projects planned for the next few months.

This is in no way an exhaustive list of everything we've been up to the last few months, but these are some highlights.
1) We have added a lot of interesting tidbits and features to the site like benches, outdoor tables, decor pieces and fun finds in the woods, and an additional fire pit.
2) We have added paint in our main tavern building and replaced the flooring in our fireplace room.
3) The temporary kitchen is fully stocked with sheet pans, pots, kitchen tools, and dishes.
4) With the help of volunteers, we cleaned up a lot of fallen trees from the serious storms we had and continue to clean up the trails.
5) We've added modular decor and dining furniture to the Tavern.
6) We've added more spacing in our sleeping areas, with the option to add more beds as needed.
7) Cutting back brush around the retention pond, adding more space.

Planned Projects that will begin over the next few months:
1) Adding in a second bridge to access the woods
2) Adding shelters and mini buildings across the creek.
3) Adding onsite storage buildings/shipping container
4) Painting the remaining unpainted structure exteriors
5) Continuing to improve trails and craft more on top of the existing extensive ones we have.
6) Adding interior aesthetic improvements such as paint and wainscoting.

We already have a few volunteer workdays on the calendar courtesy of some local larps. But please let us know if your organtization is interested in planning a day to make the site even more immersive and ready to go for events.
We continue to be amazed, humbled, and grateful for the support of our community, and we assure you that we have every intention of being here when larping starts up again.

I am happy to report that thanks to the generous fundraising efforts of Megan Durham, Brendan Keating, and Sean Robinson during his birthday celebration, and all of the generous contributors, $1201 was raised towards the construction of a module space!

While the generous gifts we receive and contributions from Patreon are critical in us continuing to make our bill payments, loan payments, taxes, insurance, and all of the crucial things required to hang on during these times, this fundraiser was for a planned improvement to the site. This $1201 puts a very nice dent in the $5K-10K needed for a larping module space. We are super grateful!

I also would like to announce that our website is live, and once larps are able to book again, we will be able to update our scheduling calendar so that renters can see at a glance which weekends are available.

This is Hither, It is 'From's' brother. This 8' hanging scarecrow scared our roofers so bad they almost quit. Every once in a while you would see a head pop up over the roof edge just to make sure it had not moved.

I do love this site!
I am excited for when we open up and start larping again.
