DID YOU KNOW? European colonists began venturing to the Big South Fork region to hunt during the 18th century. One of the earliest references is to a station camp near what is now Charit Creek Lodge a few years before the American Revolution. The first who liked it here so much they stayed permanently was a young Virginian named Richard Harve Slaven. He built a home on No Business Creek, and with time the No Business settlement grew to include more than 200 residents! The last resident of No Business was Richard Slaven's great-grandson, Dewey, and he died in 1960. Today, No Business valley is slowly returning to the way it was in the pioneer era. But you can still explore it on foot, on horseback, or by mountain bike. The closest access by vehicle is Terry Cemetery off Divide Road.
