Miller’s Cottages Your 'home away from home' in Michigan's New Frontier - Ontonagon County! We have a pavilion and plenty of room to roam.

Miller's Cottages has 14 cottages/cabins/chalets, a lodge and a camping pod with a sandy shoreline on Lake Superior. The property boast beautiful landscaping and a quiet atmosphere which lends to a relaxing vacation. We are located in the Western Upper Peninsula in Ontonagon County, Michigan.

🍁 Fall foliage forecast for the upcoming weekend, October 2nd-4th, 2026 🍁

Of note, this is projected for fall color tours you may have planned this upcoming weekend. This is NOT what it currently stands at today. This year, with several cooler nights and widespread drought across much of the state, leaves have been turning over roughly a week ahead of schedule. Some locations are even dropping leaves prior to peak color. PEAK will be ongoing this weekend across much of the western Upper Peninsula. Decent color is already showing through across the rest of the Upper Peninsula, and parts of northern Lower Peninsula. Widespread frost Saturday morning will help the colors pop a little more by the end of the weekend, especially up north.

We're likely less than two weeks away from peak color up in northern lower. Another fall color forecast coming your way next week!

Are you visiting Michigan, or a resident of Michigan heading north to check out the colors? We are nearing peak fall foliage for some locations in the Upper Peninsula.

Our in-house forecast for this upcoming weekend denotes more color increasing due to colder nights. Low temperatures consistently in the 40s or less are expected. Some areas that are seeing color right now are due to drought causing stress, shown by areas with the diagonal black lines. No rain expected as well, which will only continue to aid in extra stress. The western Upper Peninsula is already somewhat incredible right now, and we project that within the next 7-10 days, we may already be at peak colors here.

Again, this is our forecast for this upcoming weekend, September 26th-27th, 2026. This forecast is powered by our trusted partner of the day, American Arbor.

Fall Color Fly-in dates have been announced!

Visit the Ontonagon County Airport on October 3rd from 9 AM to 5 PM to hop in an airplane and admire the autumn hues. (October 4th is the make-up day if the weather doesn't cooperate)

Lunch is provided for $5, and the airplane rides are $40 per person.

This is an amazing opportunity to create long-lasting memories in the Porcupine Mountains area!
