Mike Sawyer from Plymouth, Ma. trolled with Rangeley Lakes Fishing Charters on a toasty Mooselookmeguntic Lake the past couple of days. We boated lots of fish that were taken by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife biologists and they were either surgically implanted with radio transmitters or a yellow dorsal fin tag (floy tag) was attached. The data they gather will be used to aid in the management of the Mooselookmeguntic Lake fishery!
If you catch a landlocked salmon or brook trout on Mooselookmeguntic lake that has a radio antenna protruding from its belly please release it immediately so it can continue to gather information for the study. If you do keep a fish with a transmitter please return the transmitter to Rivers Edge Sports, Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust or a DIF&W office. If you catch one with a yellow dorsal fin tag (floy tag) please:
1. Record the tag number.
2. When and where it was caught.
3. Fish length.
4. Report it online at MEFISHWILDLIFE.COM/TAG
Angler participation is the key to this study and is key in ensuring an even healthier fishery in the future!
Enjoy our great outdoors!!!

Hey anglers! You might be interested to learn what Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust is doing on Mooselook!
RTLH is excited to support and be part of one of the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife’s largest radio telemetry studies in history!
Targeting Mooselookmeguntic Lake, 75 brook trout and 50 landlocked salmon are receiving surgically implanted radio transmitters.
The information received will apprise the Department of tributary access use and identify specific spawning sites, staging areas and timing, and seasonal movement patterns to support wild trout and salmon population management. In addition, over 200 fish will receive Floy tags that will aid biologists with capture rates, survival, and growth information.
In true Rangeley style, staff and volunteers from the Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust and the Rangeley Region Guides & Sportsmen's Association are pictured below getting their boats (and hands) wet to help the Department with this study. Stay tuned as RLHT remains involved in this comprehensive and exciting study!

In 2006 Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust purchased 125 acres of land including over 2 miles of frontage on Cupsuptic Lake with generous support from its membership and the Land For Maine’s Future program.
In October 2010 RLHT took over the management of Cupsuptic Campground which was a part of that acquisition. We re-named our campground...Cupsuptic Lake Park and Campground. Major improvements have been made to the campground including a brand new state of the art bath house facility, a completely remodeled camp store and welcome center and a state of the art pavilion with fireplace and we installed full sewer hook-ups on 26 RV sites. We added all new picnic tables, fire pits and underground utilities. Significant grant funding and design services from the PARC Foundation have contributed to this effort. The campground has received an extensive make over with great effort made to ensure that you and your family have the best camping experience possible!
We also offer:
